Yellow-eyed Penguin (Megadyptes antipodes)

The yellow-eyed penguins are pretty big, they can grow to be 25.6 to 36.8 inches tall and weigh between 11 to 17.6 pounds. They can roam around the earth for 22 years. They have a yellow pattern that starts from their eyes to the backside of their head and flesh colored feet. They have a high pitched call. Every year during the months of February and March they molt all their feathers at once. During molting season, their feathers are not waterproof so they cannot go out to sea. These penguins are endangered, so we have to try our best not to harm them.
Yellow-eyed penguins live in the south islands below New Zealand, Stewart Island, Campbell Island, Auckland Island and Codfish Island. They create their nest in the forest, in addition to this; they are the least social penguin and have the largest territory of any penguin.
Yellow-eyed penguins eat red cod, blue cod, sprat, opal fish, silversides, ahuru, and squid. When looking for food they can go 9.3 miles away from the shores diving 328 ft below sea level.
