Fiordland crested Penguin (Eudyptes pachyrhynchus)

Fiordland crested penguins are approximately 23.5 inches high and weigh between 7.7 to 8.8 pounds. They can live a beautiful life of 10 to 15 years. They have an orange/yellow stripe that starts from the beak to the back of their head. They have an orange beak with white feathers that comes out when their nest is being harmed. Their way of communication is barking calls during their time at sea and vocal displays on the land. They are actually very timid but during the night they are active and sometimes natives cannot see then during day. Everyone is concerned because the fiordland crested penguin is vulnerable to extinction.
Fiordland penguins live in New Zealand, during the breeding season; they go to the coast of Fiordland and the Stewart Island to breed.
Like many other penguins, the fiordland penguins feed on squid, krill, and fish. When looking for food, they make shallow dives.
