Galapagos Penguin (Spheniscus mendiculus)

    Galapagos penguins are the smallest of all the South American penguins. They can grow to be 19.6 inches tall and weigh 4.8 pounds. The average life span of a Galapagos penguin is around 15 to 20 years. The under parts of the Galapagos penguins is white with a horseshoe shape on it and a white line starting from their eye to their throat. The unique thing is that they may molt twice a year. The penguin spends most of its day at sea to be cool and when they’re not, they hold their flippers far away from it body for heat loss. The Galapagos penguins are endangered so any cruel act to them will be severly punished.
     Like their name, they Galapagos penguins live in the Galapagos Islands and other islands like the Fernandina and Isabella Islands.
     Galapagos penguin love to feed on sardines and mullets.
