Snares Island Penguin (Eudyptes robustus)

Snares penguins are loud bird that can be 21.5 to 27.5 inches tall and weigh 6.5 to 8.8 pounds. Their average life span ranges from 15 to 20 years. They have a yellow stripe that start from their beak and goes all the way to the back of their head. In addition to that long strip, they have large reddish/brown beak that have white skin at the base. These fascinating creatures are vulnerable to extinction.
Snares penguins live on the beaches off the coast of New Zealand called the Snares Islands, giving them their name.
Snares penguins eat small fish, krill, and squid. When looking for food, they often go in small groups making shallow dives.
